Ushers

The Ushers/Greeters are church ambassadors at the entrance of the church showing God’s love as they welcome parishioners and visitors to worship.  They help seat the congregation, pass out bulletins, give them visitors welcome cards, take up the collection, and assist the gift bearers.  At Communion time they direct the flow of the congregants to the altar.  They check the attendance and recipients of communion during worship and pass the attendance sheet over to be registered in the church service register.  At the end of service, the Ushers/Greeters check all the pews, collect used/unused bulletins for disposal, and replace hymnals/prayer books in the right place.  They also distribute membership or baptism forms to any newcomers who might request them. They have the unique assignment of assisting and serving all those in attendance at each service so that the liturgy may be celebrated without distraction or interruption.
